Ultralight Expedition Hood

Need a little more capacity for the Whippa Overland 60, Whippa Solitary 55 or Whippa Access 60? Then the Expedition Hood is the answer. Weighing only 90grams, this integrated hood adds approx 8L of additional carrying capacity and looks as though it was always part of the pack. The Expedition Hood can be quickly attached or removed. Simply disconnect the side straps that connect to the the roll top, clip the two rolltop ends onto themselves and then use the side straps to attach directly to the Expedition hood at the front. The back of the hood has two toggles that connect using the small accessory loops on the back of the pack. As per the Overland and Solitary packs all the seams are tape sealed to provide a fully weatherproof hood. The back of the hood has a water repellant zipper that provides easy access. The Expedition Hood is designed so you can place either helmet between the hood and the pack or sling a rope through if required.

How to Measure Back Length:

  1. Locate the top of your hipbone (pelvic crest) on the side of your body. (Note: the pelvic crest slopes down at the front – but we are interested in the location of the highest point of your pelvis).

  2. Approximate the top of your hipbone in your lumbar region, on your spine. Wrap the tape measure horizontally from the top of your hipbone to the spine to confirm this position if required. Make a note of this location.

  3. Locate your C7 vertebrae. This is the highest bony protrusion on the back of your neck and is roughly in line with where your trapezius meets your neck. Make a note of this location.

  4. Measure the length between your C7 vertebrae and the location you found on your lumbar spine in step 2.
